Len & Phyl Holder have been living in the Black Forest since 1989 and the ministry
of Haus Barnabas has grown out of their commitment to God and His kingdom.
Deb Rule spent a summer with us when a student and came back to teach English. She
married Tim Brooks in 2001 and the two then joined as partners in the work.
We have dedicated Haus Barnabas to God and pray for a spiritual blessing on all who
come through the door. We offer a Christian family atmosphere with the freedom for
each to be themselves. Many have found real benefit from our times of Bible ministry
and fellowship.
We welcome guests in Haus Barnabas. In fact from a human point of view our existence
depends on you coming! Barnabas of the New Testament was both a preacher of the Gospel
and an encourager of the believers and this two-fold ministry is ours also. Like
many Christian activities there is a tension between our calling to share the grace
of God without money and without price and the need to survive financially. We have
sought to resolve this by firstly committing our-selves fully into God’s hands and
then stating ‘recommended prices’ for accommodation with us in the house. Most of
our guests are well able to pay these prices and many return again and again. Others
join our family community for shorter or longer periods and are able to bring practical
skills to add to any financial contribution they can make. Others are led to support
the work through monetary gifts and we would like to draw your attention to Bible
in Action Trust as a channel in the UK for gift-aided support of our ministry.

Travel
Our southern Black Forest offers a wide range of interests for your relaxation and
pleasure. Lake Titisee, above, is within an easy bus ride and your ‘guest card’ gives
you free use of the public transport over a wide area. The bus stop is immediately

Travelling to us need not be difficult. We offer to meet you at Basel or Zurich airport.
Easyjet fly to Basel from Gatwick, Edinburgh and Manchester. Flights with BA and
Swiss are other possibilities also train travel with Eurostar. We will gladly advise.
We are open for guests all the year round and aim to provide an environment where
our guests can relax and enjoy Christian fellowship. In addition to the regular morning
devotions and Sunday worship we also from time to time have days of specific ministry.
